Your Guild 1947 pieces are made to be worn- to live with you, not sit in a drawer. With small habits of care, they'll keep their warmth and finish for years.
Put your jewellery on last- after perfume, lotion, sunscreen, and hairspray. Take it off first- before swimming, showering, exercising, sleeping, or doing anything that involves water, sweat, or chemicals.
Our rich gold plating is durable, but it isn't indestructible. Contact with strong chemicals, chlorine, and prolonged moisture will wear the gold layer faster.
Each piece comes in its own Guild 1947 pouch- keep it there when you're not wearing it. Store the pouch in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
Avoid stacking pieces together unprotected. Chains tangle, stones scratch other stones, and metal-on-metal contact dulls finishes.
After each wear, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. This removes oils, sweat, and traces of product before they settle into the metal.
For a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, brushes, ultrasonic machines, and chemical jewellery dips- these can strip the gold and damage the stones.
Gold plating naturally wears with regular use- especially on rings and bracelets that see daily contact. When the gold begins to thin, we offer a re-plating service to restore your piece to its original finish.
